Instagram users are now able to upload their photos to the platform without having to install the Instagram app.

To do so, they simply open the Instagram website in their mobile browser and log in to their account. Users can then use the browser to take a new photo or select an existing photo from their gallery, add a caption to the image and upload it. The only missing features are the image filter that the app offers and the ability to upload multiple images in a single post.

Until recently, the mobile browser version could only be used to look at one’s timeline, to follow or unfollow accounts, view notifications or browse for photos and topics through the Explore tab.

However, users will not be able to access the direct message feature, nor the video functions, with the example of Instagram stories, via the mobile browser version.
